Let's show our teachers and support staff how much we appreciate the time and energy they invest in our kids! The newly formed HS2ParentsConnect group is coordinating a Staff Appreciation Lunch on Monday, May 6th. Lunch will include soup, salad and sandwiches from Panera along with tasty homemade desserts donated by our very own HS^2 students. We invite you, our HS^2 families, to pitch in to cover the cost of the meal. Any surplus funds will be applied to help pay for a visit from the Kona Shaved Ice Truck as a special treat for students to end the school year on May 31st. Please send donations via VENMO to @HS2ParentsConnect. If you are not a VENMO user, cash donations can be given to Lili Ragen in Mrs. B's advisory. ~Your HS2ParentsConnect team Note - This is a parent organized group, and is not school sponsored.

Throughout the first semester, the HS^2 AP Environmental Science students created their own EcoColumns. The purpose of an EcoColumn is to demonstrate how all different parts of nature interact in one ecosystem, while also teaching us certain ways of how animals and plants survive and what factors can influence change in the ecosystem. After initial construction, the APES students spent three months collecting and analyzing data while they added seeds, leaf littler, detritivores, and fish!

Before Spring Break, the HS^2 Physics students finished up their studies on Torque and Static Equilibrium! While some students chose to take a unit test, others chose to create mobiles to demonstrate their learning. Students had to use the skills learned throughout the unit to construct and prove that the mobiles hung in perfect equilibrium.

A flashback to when the HS^2 AP Environmental Science students did a lab looking at electricity use. The students used Kill-A-Watt meters to measure several different small appliances and electronic devices and then compared which objects used the most energy.

2024 CARSON SCHOLARS!!! Addison Foss (KMHS) has been named for the first time as a Carson Scholar. Addison will win a $1,000 college scholarship as part of her award. Emma Manion (HS^2) and Reese Albert (KMHS) were recognized by the Carson Scholars organization for their continued achievement and humanitarian efforts in our community. They are repeat applicants, so are recognized each year they apply. They do not win a scholarship again, but it says a great deal about these young ladies that they continue that same level of commitment to the organization. The Carson Scholars Fund awards scholars in grades 4-11 who demonstrate the highest standard of academic achievement, integrity, and civic and social responsibility.
