BRUENING EARNS HONORS FOR INSPIRING STUDENTS AND ATHLETES!!! Mr. Bruening, KMHS CTE teacher, received recognition on behalf of two separate KM Global students for his roles as an educator and a coach. Both submitted powerful personal stories of how he influenced them in positive ways. Megan Petersen's essay ended with "Thank you Mr. Bruening for teaching me vital life skills, creating a safe place in your classes, and helping my future be bright." Maddie Reed shared her experiences on the golf team, and wrapped with "Thank you, Coach Bruening, for being the reason I keep going, for being a great coach, and for making this season the best I could have asked for." Honored is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and elevating great teachers who make an impact. Each educator who is nominated is celebrated on their Honor Roll: https://www.honored.org/the-honor-roll. The Honored team selects one teacher each month to receive a $5,000 cash award. COMMUNITY FISCAL PLANNING LISTENING SESSION TONIGHT AT 6PM!!! We will be conducting listening sessions for the board to hear from community members regarding Scenario IIA for addressing the long-term stability of the district. This is a great opportunity for our community to better understand how closing one elementary school, restructuring our 4K-(4 or 5) district boundaries, and making changes to middle school and high school operations, will impact families. This also provides a forum for our community to inform the decision making process and learn more about each of our elementary schools. For more information on the fiscal planning process, please visit kmsd.edu/fiscal-planning.

FIRST ANNUAL KETTLE CUP!!! The Kettle Cup exhibition match will pit the "Lady Lasers" and "Laser Lads" tennis teams against one another. The match will be held May 23rd, starting at 5pm at Three Pillars Tennis Complex at Kettle Moraine High School. We will play a dual, similar to how we would in-season, where the 1st singles play each other, 2nd singles, etc. etc. We will not have a 4th doubles match, but I would love it if all players could come out and support their teams and cheer everyone on! The plan is for the teams to play their matches, with the winners raising the Kettle Cup, a perpetual trophy that will exist year after year, played between the girls team and the boys team. Also, we will have a photographer there (thanks @Michelle Kujawski) to capture all of the wonderful moments. I ask that players wear their official uniforms (girls - please see me at any boys practice to retrieve yours) during the matches in order to really show #KMNation pride. Look for more media and any announcements regarding fundraising to come. I'm asking all of you to please: save the date and spread the word!
